What is Basic Life Support Training?
First aid courses can be very extensive, and some courses cover all the threatening situations you may face whilst at work, home and play. Basic Life Support training on the other hand aims to condense first aid down to the most critical life threatening situations. Basic life support training teaches you about the respiratory (breathing) system, and how to deal with a non-breathing casualty. You will also learn about major bleeding. and how us a first aider you can control it using simple skills. By the end of the course you will be an expert in CPR and will walk away with the confidence to help someone in a time of need.
Why Basic Life Support Training?
One of the main aspects of this course is learning the skills required to treat someone who has stopped breathing, and then applying the skills to help preserve their life. A first aider is not a doctor or nurse, but you can provide immediate care prior to the arrival of the paramedics. CPR training is a central theme on this course. Nothing is more critical than when someone stops breathing as our bodies require oxygen at all times in order to sustain life. An absence of just several minutes is enough to deprive the vital organs of life and will quickly result in Cardiac Arrest and ultimately death.
325,000 people suffer from heart failure every year, and an estimated 750,000 people are living with heart failure within the UK. The CPR training on the course will teach you the skills that are required to help a victim of cardiac arrest. CPR training always proves a big hit on the course, and candidates have the opportunity to practice extensively. Our courses not only keep things simple, but also enable candidates to learn new skills that can be applied anywhere in life.
